Typical Jogja Keris



Keris is one of the most valuable cultural heritage. Not just a weapon, a dagger is also a spiritual work in the past. Talking about the kris, certainly will not be separated from the history of the keris itself.

Keris is considered as a sign of the journey of a civilization, and a culture within a nation in a very long period of time. Even the thousands of years. A Brief History of Tugu Yogyakarta

A little history about the monument that was once called the Tugu Yogyakarta golong gilig.
When we look at a map of the region of Yogyakarta (DIY) from north (top of Mount Merapi) + 70 km to the south up to Pandan Simo (on the southern coast of Ocean Indonesia) as if we can pull straight line. Imaginary straight line through three important buildings in the city of Yogyakarta, namely:

- Tugu Yogyakarta / Monument golong gilig;
- Sultan's Palace, and
- Stage Krapyak (Cage Menjangan)

The Imaginer Line
Ngayogyakarta Palace, Beach Parang Kusumo in the South Seas, and also of Mount Merapi are in a straight line connected by Tugu Jogja in the middle.
Observations of satellite imagery is showing these locations, following the connecting road, situated almost in line and just missed a few degrees.

It lies between the northern boundary and the monument as Stage Krapyak the south border, between Code River in the east and west Winongo River. After the Treaty Giyanti, Prince Mangkubumi given region of Yogyakarta. To run his government, Prince Mangkubumi build a palace in 1755 in the Forest Beringan. This land was considered quite good because flanked by two rivers that protect it from possible flooding. The first king in the Sultanate of Yogyakarta is the title of Prince Mangkubumi lane I (HB I).
